  • Boom, Bust, Echo, pp. 11-16
  • The Echo Becomes the Net Generation, pp. 16-21

The Net Gen Norms

Please work in the same small groups of 4 from yesterday
Each group is responsible for TWO of the "net gen norms"
  1. Freedom
  2. Customization
  3. Scrutiny
  4. Integrity
  5. Collaboration
  6. Entertainment
  7. Speed
  8. Innovation
Follow these directions for ONE of your norms, then start over and do the same process for the other one . . .

Text Rendering - Create a Wordle about Your Net Gen Norm

1. Read the introduction to your norm on pp. 34-36 and talk about it briefly in your group
2. Then read the full explanation of your norm on pp. 74-96
3. As you read, look for words and phrases that stand out to you as key ideas
4. In the class google doc, everyone needs to record the words, phrases, and sentence that you think best explain this norm
  • ONE sentence from the text
  • TWO phrases
  • THREE separate words (not a three-word phrase)
***Even if someone else chooses the same word, phrase, or sentence, you should both type them into the doc - those words will just get bigger, which is the point of the wordle!
5. Once you have collected all the words, phrases, and sentences, copy and paste them into a Wordle > click "Create"
Advanced option: use tildes to join words that go together in a pair or phrase; for example, Net~Geners
6. When you are finished designing your Wordle, click "Save to public gallery," fill in the "Title" with the name of your norm, click "Ok"
7. VERY IMPORTANT: Copy and paste the URL for your wordle into the google doc so we can find it later!
